This is a new author for me and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book！ It was very well written with an attention-grabbing plot， well-developed and likable characters （well， except for the bad guy。。。he was a TOTAL villainous bad guy）， and just enough steam to make it good romantic suspense （with a great dose of suspense）。 In all the nail-biting there was even a little comic relief that made me literally laugh out loud。I definitely plan to read more and hope to see these characters again This is a new author for me and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book！ It was very well written with an attention-grabbing plot， well-developed and likable characters （well， except for the bad guy。。。he was a TOTAL villainous bad guy）， and just enough steam to make it good romantic suspense （with a great dose of suspense）。 In all the nail-biting there was even a little comic relief that made me literally laugh out loud。I definitely plan to read more and hope to see these characters again。 。。。more

I simply love Karen Rose's book and I am a great fan of hers。 I have read her whole collection and could not wait for this new series which really sounds promising。 Quarter to midnight starts a new Karen Rose world full of fantastic characters that we will no doubt be exploring in the future。 I simply loved this book， the whodunit mystery is easy to follow and as ever the romance is a nice softening of the crime/mystery theme。I would whole hearty recommend this book to whoever likes this genre， I simply love Karen Rose's book and I am a great fan of hers。 I have read her whole collection and could not wait for this new series which really sounds promising。 Quarter to midnight starts a new Karen Rose world full of fantastic characters that we will no doubt be exploring in the future。 I simply loved this book， the whodunit mystery is easy to follow and as ever the romance is a nice softening of the crime/mystery theme。I would whole hearty recommend this book to whoever likes this genre， indeed I would recommend this author and any of her books as she is consistent with the quality of her stories and character developments。I can't wait for her next book in this series。。。 。。。more

This new series is going to be another cracker， if the first book is anything to go by。 Even with little back story to the main characters， there is plenty of chemistry in their first forage to suck you in。 With family and friends rooting for success in solving a murder committed during New Orleans worst natural disaster with links to Gabe’s fathers recent death， the story quickly gathers pace

I really enjoyed getting to know the main characters in Quarter to Midnight and look forward to meeting them again sometime soon。 In the main they are pretty relateable although the romantic streak is a bit cheesey for my liking。This book has a very high body count 。 a lot of side stories and just enough twists and turns to keep you interested。 A typical Karen Rose book really and I recommend it。

Another city， another team of investigators， and of course another gritty， suspenseful plot to tighten in the reader’s gut and consume the thoughts until well past the final page。 I’ve only been following along with Karen Rose’s Romantic Suspense series since Cincinnati and have made a start on the older series， but that first book I read made me a fan of her thrilling writing。My full review will post at Books of My Heart on July 28th。

This book takes a while to get going but it's worth sticking with it。 It's not that it has a particularly exciting plot， in some ways it's a bit predictable。 Instead it's the wonderful cast of characters， from the hapless xbox playing Carlos to the serial knitter and lawyer extraordinaire Miss Willa Mae Collins， that make this a great read。 I look forward to the next book in this series。 This book takes a while to get going but it's worth sticking with it。 It's not that it has a particularly exciting plot， in some ways it's a bit predictable。 Instead it's the wonderful cast of characters， from the hapless xbox playing Carlos to the serial knitter and lawyer extraordinaire Miss Willa Mae Collins， that make this a great read。 I look forward to the next book in this series。 。。。more

I would like to thank Netgalley and Headline for an advance copy of Quarter to Midnight， the first novel in a new romantic suspense series set in New Orleans。Gabriel Hebert contacts Broussard’s Private Investigations for help in finding his father Rocky’s killer。 The official verdict is suicide， but Gabe doesn’t believe it and has proof of murder。 Molly Sutton is assigned to work the case and they soon realise that Rocky was looking in to corruption in the city and the key may lie with Xavier Mo I would like to thank Netgalley and Headline for an advance copy of Quarter to Midnight， the first novel in a new romantic suspense series set in New Orleans。Gabriel Hebert contacts Broussard’s Private Investigations for help in finding his father Rocky’s killer。 The official verdict is suicide， but Gabe doesn’t believe it and has proof of murder。 Molly Sutton is assigned to work the case and they soon realise that Rocky was looking in to corruption in the city and the key may lie with Xavier Morrow， a young man with a past。I had been looking forward to starting this new series and wasn’t disappointed as I thoroughly enjoyed it。 I like Ms Rose’s formula of romance and engrossing mystery， so a new location and characters brings a freshness to it。This is a long read so be prepared to set some time aside and gird your concentration， because it is full of interconnections that need to be kept up with。 So the novel opens with Rocky’s death then moves on to Gabe requesting help。 After that various characters make appearances and it becomes quite a whirl of information with competing agendas and motives。 Bottom line， there is a high body count， a psychopathic bad guy who seems to think murder is the only solution and several characters trying to stay alive， all while Molly and Gabe are developing a relationship。 It is exciting， tense and full of twists。The main characters who will appear in the series are all nice， courageous people， interested in truth， justice and the American way。 It is satisfying to see these kinds of people succeed in their fight for survival and even more satisfying to see the bad guys brought down。 I don’t think that saying this is a spoiler as it’s a mainstay of the author’s writing。 The hint of romance adds an extra frisson， but I tend to skip the sex scenes。 Quarter to Midnight is a good read that I have no hesitation in recommending。 。。。more

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review and advanced readers copy of this book。 This is no way affects my review， all opinions are my own。 I have been a fan of Karen Rose for a fourteen long years。 I literally screamed the house down once I saw I was approved for this copy。 I devoured this in one night。 At the start I was upset to find that the book was on a new character and not on the many previous characters I loved so much whose stories I’ve been waiti Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review and advanced readers copy of this book。 This is no way affects my review， all opinions are my own。 I have been a fan of Karen Rose for a fourteen long years。 I literally screamed the house down once I saw I was approved for this copy。 I devoured this in one night。 At the start I was upset to find that the book was on a new character and not on the many previous characters I loved so much whose stories I’ve been waiting for。 That feeling stopped about 1% into the story when I was literally holding the breath every five seconds as I kept turning the page。 Molly and Gabe were thrown together due to unforeseen circumstance when Gabe comes across the suicide of his father… or so someone wants him to think that。 Hiring Molly to get to the bottom of the truth， the two are thrown in a dangerous game of cat and mouse as they find out there also cops involved。 Not knowing who they can trust they race against the clock to catch the culprit before they themselves are caught。 The amount of times I had to stop reading in order to wipe tears away from my face is kind of shocking！ I cannot believe I’m saying this， but this is has now become my all time favourite book of hers completely！ I feel like I’ve cheated on the Chicago/Baltimore family who I hold so dear！ Many people say you can read all of Karen Rose books individually （I DONT） but I really believe you will truly love the series that much more when you’ve read them ALL。 Previous characters pop up no matter how brief！This book will have you second guessing your own family with the amount of tension and betrayal circulating。 A MUST READ！ 。。。more

Thank you so much to Berkley and NetGalley for giving me an eARC of this book in exchange for my honest review。 Okay， if you're familiar with me and my reading tastes， it's going to come as absolutely not a surprise that， once again， I loved a Karen Rose book。 I started my Karen Rose journey as a teenager that saw Count to Ten in a grocery store checkout line and fell in love with her characters， their love stories， and their interconnected world in which they all deal with some of the darkest s Thank you so much to Berkley and NetGalley for giving me an eARC of this book in exchange for my honest review。 Okay， if you're familiar with me and my reading tastes， it's going to come as absolutely not a surprise that， once again， I loved a Karen Rose book。 I started my Karen Rose journey as a teenager that saw Count to Ten in a grocery store checkout line and fell in love with her characters， their love stories， and their interconnected world in which they all deal with some of the darkest sides of humanity。 Quarter to Midnight was no exception。 This time taking place in New Orleans， a city ripe with history and culture， we followed Molly and Gabe as they fight city-wide corruption and attempt to solve the murder of Gabe's father。 The new （and some old！） characters were some of my favorite personalities yet， and what they went through broke my heart。 I enjoyed the love story between Molly and Gabe immensely， and can't wait to see the rest of their group find their happily-ever-afters。 The only detractor I have is a personal preference。 In this case， I prefer when the "bad guy" remains a faceless， unnamed individual that you have to work alongside the characters to uncover throughout the story。 In this case， while you only had the first name of the "bad guy" and not much else， there wasn't really any mystery to uncover， because once you heard the name at the end， you instantly knew what was going on。 I still loved this story， and will always auto-buy anything Karen Rose writes。 This was a five star read for me and I can't wait to see where the rest of the series leads。 。。。more
